1st Financial Bank USA wants to celebrate those who recognize the importance of pursuing educational and financial goals with the 1st Financial Bank USA Financial Goals Scholarship.
The award holder will teach one graduate course per semester on a topic of their choosing. The course, a research proseminar, will consist of 135-minute sessions, once a week, for 15 weeks. The Distinguished Scholar will also be expected to give public lectures, advise graduate students, and generally engage in the academic life of the ASC. Applications are sought from those with interest in American Studies with related disciplines (sociology, economics, politics, history, culture, art history, and literature), and interdisciplinarity; also Western Hemispheric studies. The Distinguished Scholar can be awarded only to preeminent American Studies scholars with an outstanding publication record in their fields. Candidates are expected to have extensive teaching experience. It is expected that candidates will hold a PhD in the humanities or social sciences and have at least 10 years of teaching experience. There are no language proficiency requirements; English is sufficient. All teaching will be in English. A letter of invitation should not be sought. Two letters of recommendation are also required.
