The Sand Student Travel Award provides women geoscience students with support to present their research at the Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America. The award is to be used to help defray travel, lodging, registration, and other expenses associated with the presentation of the awardee's research at the meeting. To be eligible for the award, the applicant must be the presenting author of the submitted abstract; be currently enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral program or the equivalent; have geoscience or a closely related discipline as their major or area of specialization; and be a woman (including cisgender, transgender, gender fluid, and non-binary persons).
