The Elliott Antokoletz fund for research in twentieth-century music is a memorial to Elliott Antokoletz, one of the foremost scholars and teachers of twentieth-century music, whose work, insights, and phenomenal accomplishments emphasizing the creative aspects of music inspired decades of students. The research focus must be on music-centered approaches to creativity in twentieth-century music (composition, improvisation, performance). The award is to be given annually to one or more doctoral students at or PhD graduates of North American universities to conduct doctoral or post-doctoral musicological research on twentieth-century music. If applicants seek to conduct research for their dissertation, they must have completed all other requirements for the PhD. If they seek to conduct post-doctoral research, they should have completed the PhD within the past five years. Preference will be given to applicants whose home institutions do not offer financial support for musicological research. Aside from the research information, applicants must also submit one letter of support, to be submitted by a scholar familiar with the applicant's work. Please visit the award's website or contact the American Musicological Society for more information.
