1st Financial Bank USA wants to celebrate those who recognize the importance of pursuing educational and financial goals with the 1st Financial Bank USA Financial Goals Scholarship.
The Steven A. Stahl Research Grant was established by Katherine Dougherty Stahl to honor the memory and work of her late husband. The grant is given biennially to one promising graduate student conducting classroom research on reading and includes monetary support. Applicants must be graduate students who have at least three years of pre-K-12 teaching experience (students ages 4-18) and wish to conduct classroom research (including action research) in reading and literacy instruction that is empirically rigorous and focuses on improving reading instruction and children's reading achievement. All applicants, including co-applicants, must be ILA members in good standing and maintain active membership through June 30, 2026. Proposals will be evaluated on research questions; rationale for the research; literature review; methodology; research significance; clarity, cohesion, and specificity of proposal; and budget and timeline for project. The research description and reference list must be submitted as one document, preferably a PDF. Budget information detailing anticipated expenses is also required.
