1st Financial Bank USA wants to celebrate those who recognize the importance of pursuing educational and financial goals with the 1st Financial Bank USA Financial Goals Scholarship.
The Deblinger Family Scholarship Fund was established to help low-income, single mothers who are Head of Household (HOH) to return to college to improve the lives of their families, as well as motivate their children to excel. The goal is to provide the financial support to minimize the burden of additional out-of-pocket expenses resulting from having to work, support a family and attend college all at the same time. The Deblinger Family Foundation wants to enable these non-traditional students to focus on achieving their academic goals and performance, so that they can create a successful future. Up to three awards will be given per year, two female parents and one male parent. Applicants must be currently enrolled, or have been enrolled in the past year, in a community college to obtain an associate degree, certificate or in a four-year college transfer program. Students who already have an associate degree and are planning to transfer to a four-year college are also eligible. Applicants must already be accepted into an accredited nonprofit school/program before applying for a scholarship. Applicants must be current residents of eligible California counties. Preference will be given to applicants residing in Oakland, San Francisco, East Palo Alto, San Jose, and Watsonville. The successful applicant will have demonstrated academic promise, goal orientation, and a commitment to completing a degree program. Please visit the scholarship's website for more information.
