1st Financial Bank USA wants to celebrate those who recognize the importance of pursuing educational and financial goals with the 1st Financial Bank USA Financial Goals Scholarship.
On Olive Lynn Salembier's early death at age 63, her friends gathered funds to create a scholarship and, since she always encouraged people to go back to finish their degree, it was made a re-entry scholarship. Olive always wanted to help others reach their full potential. All engineering majors are eligible. Re-entry students don't have to be enrolled full-time. A minimum GPA is not required for re-entry students. Applicants do not have to be a member of SWE to be eligible for SWE scholarships. SWE considers academic achievements, participation in extracurricular or volunteer activities, and interest in engineering. Those who identify as a woman and pursue an ABET-accredited bachelor or graduate student program may apply for this scholarship. Students who attend an ABET-accredited community college program full-time are also eligible. A personal reference and STEM reference are required. The personal reference must be a person who has known the applicant for two or more years and who is not a relative or member of the applicant's family. For the STEM reference, it is highly recommended that the reference be someone in a STEM field who is familiar with the applicant's academic work. The references must submit the recommendation letters by the deadline stated. The application for upperclass students (rising sophomore, junior, senior undergraduates and all graduate students) is from December 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024. The application for incoming freshmen students is from February 2, 2024 to March 31, 2024. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Society of Women Engineers for more information.
