The Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration Stewardship Science Graduate Fellowship provides excellent financial benefits and professional development opportunities to students pursuing a Ph.D. in fields of study that solve complex science and engineering problems critical to stewardship science. As part of its science and national security missions, the DOE NNSA supports a broad spectrum of basic and applied research in science and engineering at the agency's national laboratories, at universities and in industry. The DOE NNSA SSGF is open to U.S. citizens planning full-time, uninterrupted study toward a doctoral degree at an accredited U.S. university. Those eligible to apply include senior undergraduate students and first- and second-year doctoral students focusing their studies on high energy density physics, nuclear science, or materials under extreme conditions. The fellowship must be renewed for each of up to four years. Applicants must work with their graduate advisor to generate their proposed Program of Study (POS). If the applicant is an undergraduate senior and they cannot get a graduate advisor at their preferred institution to review their POS, they must ask their current undergraduate advisor to help them generate it and then approve it. Please visit the fellowship's website for more information.
