The Harold Gulliksen Psychometric Research fellowship provides funding for promising graduate students in psychometrics, or a related field, who are conducting innovative, applied research. If you're selected, you'll carry out your proposed dissertation research under the mentorship of your academic advisor and in consultation with your ETS mentors over the course of the funding. At the time of application, applicants must be enrolled in a doctoral program, have completed all the coursework toward the doctorate, and be at the dissertation stage of their program. ETS will give dissertation topics in the areas of psychometrics, statistics, educational measurement or quantitative methods priority. Selection is based on the student's strength of academic credentials. Applicants must demonstrate superior academic ability and achievement, as well as exceptional promise in the field of educational assessment, psychometrics or statistics. Suitability and the technical strength of the proposed research project will also be considered. The project must relate to research currently under way at ETS. The preferred arrangement is that the applicant's proposed project is their doctoral thesis and they are not receiving alternative funding for this work. Non-dissertation projects may be considered provided that they are doing significant independent work. Preliminary application materials that must be submitted are letter of interest, statement describing any additional financial assistance, nomination letter, and current curriculum vitae. Final application materials that must be submitted are detailed project description, graduate academic transcripts, and evidence of scholarship. January 19, 2024 is the deadline for receipt of preliminary application materials and March 1, 2024 is the deadline for receipt of final application materials.
