1st Financial Bank USA wants to celebrate those who recognize the importance of pursuing educational and financial goals with the 1st Financial Bank USA Financial Goals Scholarship.
The Jack R. Gilstrap Scholarship will be awarded to the applicant receiving the highest overall score. Applicants should demonstrate a continued interest in a career in the public transportation industry, high academic achievement, need for financial assistance, and involvement in extracurricular citizenship and leadership activities. Applicants must be college students or those seeking advanced degrees. All returning applicants must be sponsored by a member organization of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). Any member may serve as a sponsor. First-time applicants are not required to obtain a sponsor. Two letters of recommendation that should address the applicant's commitment, demonstrated interest, and career goals in public transportation must be submitted. Recommendations must not come from relatives. Applicants must be in good academic standing. They must enclose documentation from their school verifying they are in good academic standing and that they are maintaining the required class load.
