1st Financial Bank USA wants to celebrate those who recognize the importance of pursuing educational and financial goals with the 1st Financial Bank USA Financial Goals Scholarship.
The Sir James Lougheed Award of Distinction recognizes academic excellence and provides Alberta students in graduate programs with the opportunity for study outside of Alberta at institutions anywhere in the world. Each year up to fifteen students may be eligible for these awards. Seven Master's students may receive $15,000; and eight Doctoral students may receive $20,000. Students enrolled in a doctorate program who have not previously completed 1-year of graduate studies are only eligible for a scholarship of $15,000. Applications are judged on previous academic accomplishments, program of study, appraiser evaluations, and answers to the essay question. Two reference letters from professors or associate professors are required. Applications may be submitted online or through mail.
