1st Financial Bank USA wants to celebrate those who recognize the importance of pursuing educational and financial goals with the 1st Financial Bank USA Financial Goals Scholarship.
The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Ohio awards one scholarship of $1,500 and one scholarship of $1,000 annually for students preparing to enter his or her freshman year of college. The applicant must be a veteran or a direct descendant of an honorably discharged veteran. The applicant must be a resident of Ohio or a member of an Ohio American Legion Auxiliary Unit. The applicant must be sponsored by an Ohio American Legion Auxiliary Unit. Applicants must submit a photocopy of the veteran's Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty or other government document showing time served on active military duty during the eligible service periods. The winner shall be selected based on their Americanism, character, financial need, leadership, and academics. Three letters of recommendation are required. They must be from: (1) a member of the clergy or a representative to attest to devotional beliefs; (2) a faculty member from the High School attended by the applicant; and (3) a representative of the community.
